Hey Everyone!
Another review to share with you all and it’s another good one!
Coco Pinchard is married to a theatre musician who buys her an iPhone for Christmas which she uses to email her family members, friends and literary agents. Shortly after Christmas, Coco finds her husband in bed with Snow White (yes…Snow White). Robert Bryndza has written this book made up solely of Coco’s sent emails, taking us on her post break up jouney, including all the highs and lows.
In short, I adore Coco. She’s absolutely hilarious! She has such a dry sense of humour which is the direct route to my funny bone. As, we only read the emails from Coco’s sent box, we only get her side of the conversation but the author does a fab job of ensuring that they still all made sense, the story flowed and you don’t miss any of the context from the email conversations. The author also develops the relationships between Coco and the other characters brilliantly. I love many of the relationships in the book, but I think my favourite has to be the relationship between Coco and her son Rosencrantz (you didn’t read wrong, that is his name). They’re so open with each other and even when he gets himself into some serious pickles, she’s still there for him; humour and all!
I listened to the audiobook for this and huge hats off to the narrator Jan Cramer as she does an amazing job of bringing all of the characters to life through reading out emails. Her accents, voices, everything add so much to the book and had me rolling!
All in all, I really really enjoyed this book. Some short and snappy emails mixed with some lengthier more detailed ones. I’ve given this a good solid 4 stars. (Just a note: the only reason I dropped a star was because this isn’t the deepest of books. The story probably won’t stick with me forever. But take it what it is at face value…HILARIOUS.)
